If I were an American I will vote for Obama

Friday, October 10, 2008 / Comments (0) / by sw

Obama is a very charismatic candidate, compose and he connects to his people better. He did very well at the 2 debates.

Tough job ahead for the next president, elected at trouble times like this will definitely test the vision and administrative skills of the next president.

I am just biased here, I prefer a leader who can connects to his people.

Google Chrome is the answer to cost cutting

Wednesday, October 08, 2008 / Comments (0) / by sw

If you have read my previous post on Google Chrome, I mentioned that Google Chrome is the fastest browser now.

Faster than Firefox
Faster than Opera
Faster than IE

Use Chrome if you want to cut cost during the bad time like now, fast loading and fast video streaming shorten the time for web surfing. The least time you spent on page loading the more time you save. Save money on electricity unless you don't mind the increasing cost of living.

Dear Google,

Do you have a loyalty reward for me?

Time for make over

Wednesday, October 08, 2008 / Comments (0) / by sw

Anyone who has visited my blog frequently will know that I change my theme very often, no matter how I look at my theme I am never satisfied. Perfectionist is my middle name.

So I decided to make over once more, this time I guarantee the "look" will be cleaner, this looks kinda messy right now.

Will do that during the weekend.

Bear with me.

Felipe Masa Formula One horror

Sunday, September 28, 2008 / Comments (0) / by sw

Masa loses his lead because of the fuel hose thingy, damn automatic system, they should have use a human instead, otherwise Masa will stands a good chance. It happened to Raikkonen at Valencia. Looks like Ferarri never learn.

Nevertheless, I still enjoyed the whole race and hates it when commercial kicks in. Too bad I am not at the race, else it could have been a great weekend for me.

Be there next year.

PS: I must have a grandstand ticket for next year.

Yes! It's finally here. the first night race in the history of Formula One.

Went to Padang, Gate 4, at around 3pm+. It was already crowded when i was there, stages and food stalls are all over the place and as usual in event like this, there's an inflation issue. A can of drink cost $3.00! Fried fritters for $2.00! I am getting too poor to afford all these food.

Besides the burnt smell of overheated car tyres, everything else is good.

Didn't get myself a pair of ear plugs and was almost deaf at the end of the session.

Next time i will buy grandstand seats instead.

Lehman Brothers gone!

Lehman filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection

One of the largest institute in the finance industry is going bankrupt. Crisis getting too serious now. Are we going into a serious downturn soon?

My stock investments are going down the drain too (have yet to update my portfolio), lotsa reds.
The only positive holding are my company's shares, will sell them off for US$XX when i leave the company.

And that's my only consolation for now.

Google chrome

Friday, September 05, 2008 / Comments (0) / by sw

One of the best browser i have used so far. I am currently using Firefox as my default browser, it's so much faster than IE, BUT, Google Chrome is even FASTER than Firefox!

I don't have to go to a search engine to do a search, i simply enter the keyword into the address bar and the search result will appear in Google. I like this feature, really save alot time, especially for someone like me who likes to switch tabs to do search.

I always have a tab for google, while i am on other page, easier for me to switch to a search screen. Now with the Google Chrome, i don't even need that.

Do i sound like a salesperson from Google?

This is really an awesome product from Google.

Comex 2008

Sunday, August 31, 2008 / Comments (0) / by sw

Went to Suntec city to fish for good deals at the Comex, but not surprising, like the other IT shows, offers are not really good except for LCD and Hard disks which are cheaper compared to Funan or Sim Lim.

Bought a Western Digital 500gb desktop external hard disk for only $129.90. This is cheap compared to the retail price of $170++. Hard lesson learn when my laptop crashed few months back, wiping out all my data, so it's time to get a backup disk.

I saw a pair of satellite speakers from Creative, Gigaworks T20, the sound quality is real good among all 2.0 speakers but priced at $159.00, kinda steep. I will to stick to my 5 years old brandless speakers for the moment until Creative warehouse sale.

A badly taken picture of my current workstation:

Time to change my table too.

We have more news about her than our Olympic accomplishment

Monday, August 25, 2008 / Comments (0) / by sw

I saw this piece of news so many times over the week. This piece http://www.straitstimes.com/Breaking%2BNews/Sport/Story/STIStory_271691.html

It started when Lee Bee Wah lashed at team manager Antony Lee via the media, like many Singaporean, i don't understand why she has to do it when the tournament is still going on. It affected the players' morale.

What else could have affected our chance? Lee is also responsible, doesn't she knows that morale affects performance? She too, should step down. Is she qualify to head the association?

Her uncontrolled emotions is rather disturbing. She didn't look at the big picture when she made those remarks. How to compete when you know that you could be sacked after the game?

Even the coach is not spared. Why change a winning team? All the efforts will go down our longkang.

Let's see if her big plan works for the next Olympic.

Must be true Singapore blood to win medals

Monday, August 18, 2008 / Comments (0) / by sw

I am referring to the today's TNP.

Our team has won silver but then some people claimed that our players are not of true singaporean blood. That's as good as taking away the credit from the 3 players. True, they are born in China and not Singapore but building a team like this is like building Singapore from scratch.

We need immigrants to build our country, make up for the short fall in our human resource, but these immigrants stay and started their family here. I hope our players do not give up their citizenship and go somewhere else. as we need pioneers to help us, to create something we can work on from now onwards.

But victory will taste better if our locals actually win it. But again, we didn't managed to do it by ourselves, so we need to be inspired by others.

How come no public holiday?

We got silver!

Sunday, August 17, 2008 / Comments (0) / by sw

It was a fantastic match, although we lost to China.

Our team actually played well but China is better, especially Zhang yining, she has that fierce look. Li Jiawei didn't play quite well but then it is still good a piece of good news for us. So, i expect the tomorrow's papers to splash BIG headlines of our accomplishment.

"I am still no. 1"

Another event worth mentioning for this Final is the...."half-time" performance by the mascot panda, Jingjing. The dancing was so cute, but i noticed one thing, the man or woman, whoever in that suit isn't wearing any socks. I can see his legs and it looked kinda unsightly.

Nevermind the lost to China, we won the Silver.

She is quite a chick.

Don't you think so?

My new layout

Just changed the template of my blog. Looks better than my previous layout. Maybe i should turn it all white.

Wah! Our ping pong is so fierce man!

Sunday, August 17, 2008 / Comments (0) / by sw

Finally we will get an Olympic medal for the second time in 48 years.

Our players are ranked in the world's top 10 table tennis players. What a strong team we have, but then, the government always seem looking for instant answer to our sporting scene.

These players were imported, but, they are Singaporeans too. Why not groom our locals as well? In 2011, we shall see our first sports hub and i hope it's not a half hearted affair. You know, we are overly commercialised, sports and arts........ not much effort from our people and government.

Goal 2010 is a failure. So no world cup for us. We shouldn't look for fast food solution for sports, because we really have to groom our own.

Anyway, good news for us. Maybe a gold medal in Beijing 2008?

I had a weird dream

Thursday, August 14, 2008 / Comments (0) / by sw

Any dream interpretor here?

I dreamt of myself spitting a centipede out of my mouth, 90% of the body is outside my mouth while the tail or head is sandwiched between my lips. It took me quite awhile to spit the whole centipede out.

The dream was quite vivid.

Is it a normal dream or there are other explanation to it?

But blogger is so user friendly. I wonder if it is easier to manage than win live space.

It's up! At the post below, will do more fanciful stuff when i get more pro with it. It took me quite a while to upload that video.

It's like 58mb after compression. I wonder if there's a faster way to upload my videos to youtube.

Anyway, i will be working a second video real soon.

Went to the WCG today at suntec city.

The last one was actually better. I am not an avid gamer but i do play games once in awhile, but then, i felt that WCG 2008 isn't too interesting.

There's a kid's competition going on there and this malay boy is really funny.

The Dark Knight

Sunday, August 03, 2008 / Comments (0) / by sw

Went to the movies today to watch the Dar Knight. Avoided the crowd when it first screened but didn't expect that 1 week after, the cinema is still packed with movie-goers for this show.

Really enjoy the show throughout, especially Joker who basically outshines Batman. This Joker is more psychopathic than the previous ones and is so much better.

I collected my F1 pass today

Saturday, August 02, 2008 / Comments (0) / by sw

Finally, i got the pass this morning, after 30 mins of queuing at singpost. The pass is nicely packaged in a black box. Gotta hang this around my neck when i am at the race next month.

Care about helping some kids? The 30 hour famine organised by World Vision is now on, you can help by going to their website, they have some merchandise for sale too.

Saturday, August 02, 2008 / Comments (0) / by sw

Shortly after my last post, another colleague left the company.

I read from yesterday papers, unemployment rate has gone up, good times never seems to last. We heading for a possible recession soon.

Thursday, July 31, 2008 / Comments (0) / by sw

One colleague just left the company today due to unhappiness with what was going in the office. Our management always have trouble retaining people, this management kinda bad, implementing policies that cause them problems.

Guess i will be the next to tender my resignation.

Why MHA isn't keen on a bounty?

Friday, July 25, 2008 / Comments (0) / by sw

I don't understand.

I know that it's every citizen's to help in searching for Mas Selamat, but then a little reward would do no harm. Instead the MHA said that they will not give reward but have no issue about rewards coming from the public.

Why does the people have to bear such cost?

It's the MHA's responsibilty to ensure that we are safe and shouldn't they do anything to find that man? Selamat could already have left the country and the reward came a little too late.

MHA should really be more open to such schemes.

Went to watch this movie at GV. I didn't get to enjoy the thriller at all, predictable plot, psycho killer not crazy enough.

If i were to choose again, then i will leave this movie out. I won't even rent the DVD, it basically sux.

No more donation

Friday, July 18, 2008 / Comments (0) / by sw

You know what i am referring to. NKF follows by Renci, i will still want to help some needy, perhaps this time i shall put my money in government's charity like comchest.

To be frank, i am not a charitable person but sometimes when i watched those charity shows, the plead of the patients really moved me. High profile organisations are problematic, i hope this monk is really innocent. You know what i meant.

He did all those stunts on TV, climb buildings, enveloped himself with ice cubes, walk around one of the tallest building in Singapore all for the sake of raising funds for his patients but then, scandals happened.

If he is really guilty then, this is BS! Do all those stuff to cheat the public.

Well, i really hope he is innocent.

Charity shows have a bad name now. What about those patients?

This is sad.

Nice cloud. Pic taken by E71

Tuesday, July 15, 2008 / Comments (0) / by sw

Caught this outside my house on Saturday. Looks like a trail left behind by a plane, but it stays for quite awhile. Usually plane's trail disappears shortly it flew by, but this stays for like 10 mins or more.

Shot through the clouds like a spearhead.

By the way, this photo was taken by Nokia E71. The image quality is bad for a 3.2 mgp cam.

Time to change my blog?

Saturday, July 12, 2008 / Comments (1) / by sw

I have written about this before, but i am just too lazy to do anything about it.

I will do it maybe next month or in September when i update my investment blog. My funds are in red now as well as my stocks. The market's choppiness is going to last a long time, esepcially when there are rumours that China's economic is going down after the Olympic.

We will see by my next update how i fare for the 2nd last quarter of the year.

I hope the assumption isn't true.

ISD find them soon.

Hellboy 2

Saturday, July 12, 2008 / Comments (0) / by sw

Watched Hellboy 2 today, the movie isn't too bad. The CG is good but storyline is so-so, at most average. Did the producer included some kungfu flick? The prince was doing somersault as if he is in some kungfu movie.

An Ok movie only. I am keeping my fingers crossed for the Dark Knight. Ironman and Spiderman are somehow difficult to surpass.

If i have a choice, i would rather rent the DVD when it's out for Hellboy 2.

I am a Machiavellian

Thursday, July 10, 2008 / Comments (0) / by sw

*Grin* Did 2 tests, the results vary, but none is good...hahaha, what could you expect if you are doing tests like this.

First test

You Are Somewhat Machiavellian

You're not going to mow over everyone to get ahead...

But you're also powerful enough to make things happen for yourself.

You understand how the world works, even when it's an ugly place.

You just don't get ugly yourself - unless you have to!

Second test

Score 37-50
High Machiavellian. You are classified by the test as High Machiavellian. Practical to the point of being a hardheaded cynic, not very trusting of human nature, andready to deal with what is, rather than what ought to be.High Machiavellians are pragmatic, maintain emotional distance, believe that the end justify the means. Generally High Machiavelliansmanipulate more, are persuaded less and can persuade others more. High Machiavellians flourish in face-to-face situations, in situations withminimal rules and regulations.High Machiavellians can be successful in jobs where bargaining or negotiation are key or where commission is involved.

I scored 37, just made it to the high side and that's not a piece of good news.
Did it out of curiousity.

Lousy F1 service

Wednesday, July 09, 2008 / Comments (0) / by sw

Bought my ticket in June at Singpost, and was told that i could collect my ticket anytime in July. But when i went down to singpost last saturday, i was told that the ticket has yet arrived. I coulnd't collect then.

The manager wanted me to leave my contact so she could call me when the ticket arrived.

This is bad. It was also printed on my receipt that the ticket can be collected in July. Have to call and check this weekend.

Anyway, i just borrowed a book "Dialogue in Hell", a machiavellian book. Just started reading, not too bad. Anyone who agrees with Machiavelli should consider this book.

How time flies

Sunday, July 06, 2008 / Comments (0) / by sw

It's already halfway through the year 2008, time moves so fast that i hardly realised it. Sometimes we just take time for granted and we knew that time waits for no one.

I am going to add 1 more year to my age in a couple of months time. Hmm... maybe it's time for me to settle down, but i am still enjoying my life now. Freedom is priceless! So much more could have been achieved.

How long more to retirement?? I am tired of work already, not in the near future at least..... maybe it's my job. It's hard to persist without passion. Do i enjoy going to the office everyday? Do i enjoy my work? NAH. I will have to find a job soon, before the end of the year, been dragging this for too long already.

I failed my quit smoking resolution..:( i will try again tho.

I am going to watch this movie!!

New phone

Friday, July 04, 2008 / Comments (0) / by sw

Got myself a Nokia E71 today to get a 6 month subscription-free promotion, i won't be paying sub fees for the next 6 months from now.

Got the phone after a $150 off.

I have not been using nokia phone for about hmm... 10 years? This is the second time i am using.

Phone is still charging, so let's see the features once the charge is over.
Dumping my old phone.....................

I can take a rest now

Tuesday, July 01, 2008 / Comments (0) / by sw

Euro 2008 is OVER! Missed my sleep, goodbye to swollen eyes. Didn't win anything for euro bet, i actually bought Holland to win the champ, but then football is so unpredictable.

Spain won, they played good football, the final was entertaining. Good game.

Unexpected!

Now i can go to sleep early.

Getting a new phone soon, the one which i have been waiting until my neck long, Nokia E71, nice and sleek. $498 now, quite cheap.

Going shopping this weekend. I won't be going to the tailoer this month, tailored too many clothes, i could hardly fit into some of them because i have put on some weight.

Lotsa things to do over the weekend. But it's still early, it's only Wednesday, guess i should look for another job soon, i no longer enjoy my current job. I was working for the money since the first day i started work, well i guess, i really need to do something i really enjoy otherwise i won't have the passion to carry on for a long time.

Anyway, well done SPAIN!

Spain broke the curse

Tuesday, June 24, 2008 / Comments (0) / by sw

As well as the jinx of group winners getting knocked out. Spain vs Russia will be exciting....

No match for today until wednesday, so i can take a break for now.

----

Getting a new mobile, E71 from Nokia soon. Rumours that it will be released in July, already saw the dummy set, VERY SLIM but glossy.

Not going to miss this out again like the E61i.

What a heartbreaker

Sunday, June 22, 2008 / Comments (0) / by sw

I am referring to Holland vs Russia match.

To all Holland fans:

WE SCREWED IT AGAIN!!!

Sigh...i even backed them to win Euro 2008....but now....i think they will miss robben on the left. The standard they displayed today is = England. Their standard dropped so fast.

Never get to see them win the euro in my life again since 1988.

When will we see this AGAIN?

Arshavin is real good with the ball tho, Russians were faster, more brilliant, penetrate better, but the Dutch argghhh.......screwed a few of their chances, if not for Van de Sar, i guess Holland will be out even before full time.

Good luck to Spain now, they are the only Group winner left.

Lazy week

Saturday, June 14, 2008 / Comments (0) / by sw

Nothing much to do since Monday. I wanted to install a pc game, COD2, to kill time, but i realised that my lousy laptop couldn't make it, the game failed me in the end.....so try my luck on MMO, and found one Soldier Front, but there are a lot of young people in the game, so i guess this isn't a game for someone of my age.

Nevertheless, since i am quite lobo for a few days already, so i went to watch the Incredible Hullk. The CG is very nice, especially the Hulk much better than the first one...hmm....by Lee Ang or John Woo? Can't remember. This one is SO MUCH better.

Very very old Hulk. Looks like the Hulk had a bad day,
like erm... maybe he found himself abnormal and turn green.
he looks really SHOCK!

Old Hulk

Hulk in 2008

The new Hulk looks better. I like the part where they show the skycam of Brazillian houses, fantastic man! But the movie is alittle overboard at first when US Task Force could just storm the streets of Brazil, bang into houses, bomb door without the sight of a single Brazillian police.
That's a little exaggerated, but overall i enjoyed movie.

Holland WAY TO GO!!!

Saturday, June 14, 2008 / Comments (0) / by sw

Holland 4 France 1

Fabulous match this morning, thrashed France 4:1. Superb performance from my favourite team. This match is really exciting with a lot of attacking. I hope they do well for the Quarter Final.

My fav player from Holland. (Used to be Ruud Gullit, Marco van Basten and Dennis Bergkemp)
Arjen Robben

He scored an unbelievable goal this morning.

No jobs for me

Monday, June 02, 2008 / Comments (0) / by sw

Didn't really searched, but i saw from the classified and a few online jobs portals, can't find what i want. They are either too demanding on my poor experience or the salary is too low.

Not easy hor. Alot of competition nowadays.

Hmm....i notice that i am getting too fat, my tummy is growing at an amazing rate, i thought my clothes shrunk....but my former colleague whom i met last weekend asked if my tummy comes from beer. So i must really be fat now.

Must get into shape soon, going for my weekend jog this saturday, oh Euro 2008 starts this sat, i am a fat old man now.

My ideal shape will be this...

Maybe 1 year? or more, totally ignorance in body building. I want to grow bigger biceps, forearmas, chests...ok that's an old photo of Donie Yen, wanted to be bigger than that ....an extreme make-over. But no amino acid for me...

Go to go now. Bye..

This a strange world

GUNS FOR SALE! + Free gifts 1 year free of bullets?!

-----

Went Singpost to buy F1 ticket today during my lunch time. Luckily the organiser introduced the 1 day pass for walkabout as i do not intend to attend on all 3 days mainly because of the weekend crowd. Bought a Friday pass, at least it's not so bad on friday...but weekend....F1 crowd + weekend crowd, sure traffic jam.

But i can only collect the ticket anytime in July.

There is one thing i have in mind, what if there's a blackout during the race?...... :x

Wah headroll already.........

The superintendent of the Whitley Road Detention Centre sacked. Went CNA website to check after i took a glimpse on channel 8 news. I didn't get it wrong, several officers were either demoted or charged.

Our reputation really hurts this time round, but then, it's an isolated incident. Overall, i still have strong faith in our security. But Selamat is still missing, how? How long would we take to find him? Singapore is so small but yet it's so difficult to find someone missing....

Don't want to talk about it now, so disappointing.

---

Bought Football Manager 2008, FM2007 was fun and addictive, 2008 is even better. Haven't get to play much yet except for a few friendly matches, loading time is much faster. This game is more addictive than any other games i have played.

Games aside. I find that i am not very profficient in investment, although i have some profits from penny stocks like KTL, around 18%, unit trust losses have reduced, few funds are back in profits. My portfolio is in better shape now. (I took a peek today)

So i decided to do somemore reading on fundamental analysis, went to NLB to borrow a book by Damodaran, Investment Valuation, to spruce up my skills. Close to 1000 pages, so this will take me awhile to finish.

I think i have the most boring blog in blogspot

Euro 2008

Wednesday, May 21, 2008 / Comments (0) / by sw

It's coming this June. I will be supporting my fav team Holland a.k.a Netherlands. Tough for them i guess, fall in the same group as France, Italy and Romania. No luck in world cup 2006, hopefully euro 2008 will be better for them. One thing, I don't see many Holland's supporters around, any bloggers out there support the team?

Holland really needs some luck because Marco doesn't look like a confident coach....

Any update on Mas Selamat?

The crowd was fascinating at Ubin, it was very crowded at that hour. Wanted to go chek jawa by foot but then realised that it will take at least 40 mins to reach there....i gave up. Checked with Nature Park information counter about the trails at chek jawa, but then i think there too many people asking the same question..LOL. He looks quite irritated. He talked as if he was rapping.

Anyway, i went over to Wei Tuo Fa Gong which i missed during my first trip to pray. I was surprise to see the couple tending the temple there. We took the same boat to ubin, i thought they were visitors at first.

Feeding the tortise at the pond. $1 per packet of treats.

Tried the fortune telling at wei tuo. Not bad, but not very detailed. Ang pao $12. Waited for a long time before my turn, around 1 hour++. Finished at 3pm+, then took a taxi back to the jetty for $5.

Bumboat tickets increased...now at $2.50. Anyway, it was a good trip.

Nothing much to write

Finally it's Fridayyyyyy.......

I am going to ubin tomorrow morning, will catch the morning bus to changi jetty. Miss the seafood there. The weather looks good today, so i assume tomorrow will be just as fine.

Will stay there until 1 pm, most probably get a taxi at ubin to go chek jawa instead of walking, and leave the place around noon. Cannot stand hot sun.

...

Got a shock when i read from a forum that LSE passing mark is 40 instead of 34, but thankfully, it's a misunderstanding. UOL's passing mark remains at 34. Heng.

Sleepless but not tired

Wednesday, May 14, 2008 / Comments (0) / by sw

Strange isn't it? I have yet to sleep since yesterday for more than 24 hours now. I rushed home after my last papers to take nap (was really sleepy yesterday, lack of sleep for days since the exams), BUT saw the mess in my bedroom, papers all over the place, had to do room cleaning instead. Well, after cleaning up my bedroom, saw a few books which i have borrowed from the library....so i went to return those books by the time i am done..strange! i don't feel sleepy anymore...this is so weird.

I ended up staying awake and alert throughout the whole night till this morning, till this moment! I can't believe it. In fact, i am till alert now...but i am sure i will fall asleep after 12. Is there anything wrong with me???

By the way, i am so free now with basically nothing to do in the evening. Got to find something to do soon. I cannot stand idle around, i have to keep myself busy even on off days...

I will be going to ubin this saturday...too free on sat..hopefuly the weather will be fine. I wanted to visit chek jawa and look at the marine life. Got myself a canon 6mgp camera recently after all the positive reviews i have read. Will try out the capacity of this cam when i am there.

I am going to switch job soon

Tuesday, May 13, 2008 / Comments (0) / by sw

As mentioned earlier, i am looking for a career switch soon, leaving behind a less fulfilling job to embark in a more challenging career.

Silly as it sounds, after working in this company for so long, i still have to leave. It was a tough decision to make. I guess most people will be against this idea of career switch. It won't be easy i supposed as i am not that old neither that young, better do it now then to do it when i am in my 40s.

So i need to spruce up my resume now, making it more perfect.LOL and more marketable. My current format doesn't look too good as compared to the last time i review it. I will have to start from Zero as soon as i get one. Will do that immediately after my break. After sleepless nights, finally i can put down my notes and take a good rest. Got to comb the straitstimes on every saturday from now on. Have to get one before the chinese new year whereby employment will dropped around that time.
...
Have to get back to work tomorrow. Sianz. I dreaded of going to work now. Sianz..sianz..sianz... nothing else can describe. No more mood for my work already. My marginal utility is diminishing, 5 on a scale of 10.
OK. so much on career. I am going back to my books but this time it's leisure reading. Have a few books in mind now...Richest Man in Babylon, Intelligent Investor and the 2 books i got from wallstraits.com.

Time to log off. zzzZZZZ soon.

It's over! time to rest

Tuesday, May 13, 2008 / Comments (0) / by sw

Exams over! I hope my results won't be too bad which i will only know in early september, but for now i can take a long break...maybe go to the beach or town to get some new clothes...and continue my toastmasters. It's tough handling both work and studies...i didn't even go to Formula drift in changi because of the exams....

Nevertheless i am also planning to look for a new job. Good luck to me for job hunting and plenty of good luck for my exams....

Good luck to fellow strugglers whom have other papers to clear.

Raffles place ghost

It's fake and i just realised it. SPI debunked it, but their explaination wasn't correct. GMP did it. So there's no excuse for not working over time now. :(

Friday, May 09, 2008 / Comments (0) / by sw

Finished my stats paper closed to 12pm today, i have some time to rest before to do my next paper on tuesday.

Managed watch Ghost Ship, Killing Words and Crazy Eights today on VCDs. Only Ghost ship is nice, the other two are real boring shows. But i don't quite understand the part where the captain said there's one survivor on the ship and hand a photo to Murphy, was that man in the photo Santos? Was the man in the photo the same person whol killed everyone on board?

I am quite confused about this part, I guess only those who have watched the movie can answer this, i pity the lady actress who ended up in the ghost ship again after she bombed the ship.

Tough tough tough...

Took UOL intro to econs this morning, real tough questions....most probably the lack of practice from me:(, went all the way for my revision until 2.30 am this morning, by the time i woke up...around 7am, i couldn't open my eyes, and i almost went blank during the exams...

So good luck to those taking Intro to Econs today.

Statistics for tomorrow.....

Lazy day for me

Thursday, May 01, 2008 / Comments (0) / by sw

I haven't been updating this blog for a couple of days due to my exams. I can't seem to have enough concentration these days, no matter how mnay hours or how many times i slept in day i will still feel lethargic.

Managed to revised a little bit for my exams this morning, then i left to watch Ironman, but i feel real good after stepping out of my house for a few hours.

Nevertheless, the movie was good. The Ironman suit is very nice and i thought at first, this hero will be a little clumsy in his movements, it's actually the opposite of my assumptions. The ending could have been better. Hope that the incredible hulk will be a feast.

I went to the NTUC club for a game of jackpot before this movie and eventually lost all my tokens. Win some and lost some, in the end i ended up with zero winnings. The club is a little disappointing with ONLY jackpot machines to play... i will get bored if i would have stayed for another 30 mins.

OK. I need to signed off to rest before continuing with my revision.

Human Rights? Should we fight for it at all?

Sunday, April 20, 2008 / Comments (0) / by sw

I received an email from blogcatalog when i checked my email today. It's an invitation to all bloggers to write on human rights issues on 15 May.

Human rights is never my cup of tea, nevertheless, perhaps i could contribute abit here. I won't blog about it on 15 May. Animals have their rights too and were given upon them because they cannot fight for their own rights and maybe that's the reason why authorities wanted to protect them. Humans are too demanding, and that could be the reason why we are derived of our rights. Give him an inch and he wants a yard and maybe that's why human rights campaign hardly change a thing.

We actually have plenty of rights in this democratic society. But we could ask for more to upsize our rights. I would prefer those world class organisations to help poor economies. Fill the stomachs first before anything else.

I wonder how much success had human rights organisations gained over the last decades. I don't agree to cruelty to another human but then, we have to be realistic, how many human rights do we actually want?

Of course, we can't let anyone takes away our rights but are we really that derived? The tragedies in Burma or Myanmar, depending on your political stand or Tibet is a result of dictatorship. Can we have Democracy Rights instead? Democracy Rights and Human Rights, are there any different? I would say YES. Think about it.

Why fight for human rights when dictatorship has yet been removed? I am not saying that dictatorship is the only source of problem, at least that's the more common one.

Nothing else to write about human rights since it cannot be resolved at all. I am not writing bullshit here but think about it. Can you, me or us change the world at will?

The Forbidden Kingdom is a lousy movie

Saturday, April 19, 2008 / Comments (0) / by sw

Started my revision at 9am this morning, after 3+ hours my brain juice is running dry, so i deceived to watch a movie for break. There isn't any good movies for the past few weeks, limiting my choices to Funny Games and Forbidden Kingdom.

My first choice is Forbidden Kingdom between the 2 because of Jackie Chan.

Sigh, everything is in English except for a few scenes. This is somehow a Chinese epic movie, at least with the Monkey King in it. I couldn't believed what i saw, Jackie Chan the drunken master was speaking Chinese to Michael Angarano, and when he couldn't understand Jackie Chan, hmm..JC started to speak in English......OMG. I mean are those people from that era supposed to know enlgish and chinese??? Can switch from CCTV to CNN anytime. This is a made for USA movie for sure but at least put some sense into it.

Monkey King spoke english, best of all the JADE EMPEROR! spoke english. Graphics were good lah but then the story is so weak i won't even rent a DVD. Very disappointed with the movie. It's a pity that Collin Chan the bad guy from Flashpoint aka Tony didn't have much scene in the movie.

Wasted $11 on this movie, but i had a good rest. It's time to go back to my books.

Stresssssss :(

Sunday, April 13, 2008 / Comments (0) / by sw

It's sunday but i am at home revising, well i am not complaining here but then i will be in town or having dinner with my friends. But i am grounded now.

I am feeling stress now, so many chapters to cover and yet so little time. Studying part time i never easy i guess. I am only left with 3 weeks to get things ready for my big day. Thay's why i blog less these few days and will be even lesser soon.

Nice weather today, cool and rainy...it's a good time to sleep but i have to resist the temptations...:). OK. I really need to log off now.

Signed off.

I have got adverts

Sunday, April 13, 2008 / Comments (0) / by sw

Haven't been updating my blog for the past few days because i am busy preparing for my exams. It has been very stressful for me, but it will be over soon in May :}

It caught me by surprise when i logged in today to see a Nuffnang ad. Wooh!, they have finally put an ad on my blog. I thought for a moment that i have a boring blog that they wouldn't be interested in.

My schedule haven't been interesting for the past few days. I cut off all entertainment to study straight after work. I usually reached homeat about 8 and dive into my books at around 9 then call it a day at around 1+ to 2am. My eye bags are getting heavier now, my eyes looked kinda swollen.

I need to sign off for now, so see you. Have a very nice and pleasant weekend.

Something is wrong with me today (my diet gone haywire)

Monday, April 07, 2008 / Comments (0) / by sw

Went to work today as usual without breakfast, but i felt something different....lethargic, fatigue, lost of concentration.

In fact, for all these years, i seldom (almost never) take breakfast before i go to work, and seldom (almost never) take lunch because i will feel sleepy after a meal in the afternoon. So you could say that i take only 1 meal per day that is my dinner for the past few years...maybe 5-6 years already?

5-6 years~~

My doctor was surprised when i told her that (visited her 1 month ago when i caught a serious flu). I think there ain't many people like me who can endure with only 1 meal per day. But i felt different today, felt so weak as if i am going to fall sick. Hmm...i didn't take care of my health too well. I guess i got to have regular meals SOON otherwise my immune system is going to collapse one of these days. Got to take some Vitamin C, super dosage type, 1000mg beside my daily dosage of B Complex and Omega 3, but i heard krill oil is better than pure Omega 3.

Nevertheless, i got to exercise more as well, i have put on alot of weight despite low meal intake coz i ate quite alot over the weekend, it's like...compensating myself for the lack of meals during the weekdays :P

Plus plenty of late nights.....sigh, i looked older than i should.

Preparing for my exams

Just finished a portion of my revision. I am burning mid night oil again, guess i need to go for facial after my exams, but i know myself too well, it's useless. I like to keep myself busy, cannot stay in my house and slack, must do something at all time.
Either reading, surfing, blogging, listening to podcast/zencast, write something, sms someone etc....etc... I just cannot sit still.
Like now. I just took a break from my revision and i am downloading some audiofiles from businessweek. Cannot stay still...
OK. I need to go off for second round of revision now. I may be back if i am still awake later.

I550W? No way! Cannot make it

Sunday, April 06, 2008 / Comments (0) / by sw

This phone has a very sleek design, but seriously, i wonder how could a phone relies on design instead of features and performance. I was thinking of getting this intially, but after a few reviews i have read i have decided to hold on to my decision.

Some of the feedbacks i saw from the users

BTW, for those using the phone, do you find yourself having to charge daily? I am surprised as the 1200mAH batt life seems pretty short! And this even with v moderate usage (10 mins web surfing using GPRS, send & receive 10 SMS, 30 mins GPS, almost no calls made/received). But phone is set to dual mode network daily. Either this phone really uses a lot of juice or my batt is faulty. I did charge it for 9 hours 1st time on phone purchase.

the battery life sucks for such a big batt

ball cursor ...sucks big time call quality ...not as good as the other phones i used previouslyscreen ...cannot see properly under direct sunlight (N82 & my previous 6110 navigator did not have this problem) symbian 60 S/W seems to lack some parts battery life ...cannot make it

Just noticed something: My phone tends to heat up when I surf web thru GPRS. At the same time, batt level falls dramatically within minutes.

I am not going discredit this phone until i get my hands on it. I am lucky to get a feel of the phone at Samsung's roadshow. The trackball is really NOT sensitive, it's disappointing. It's troublesome to navigate within the menu. Iam not sure about the GPS since i didn't try that.

Poor battery is a good enough reason for me to stay away from this phone. There's really no point for me to get a phone when the battery runs flat easily, i don't want to miss an important at anytime of the day.

So. I have no vested interest anymore.

Maybe i should wait for Nokia E71, but there's no news from Nokia yet. OR get the E61i, although it's a discontinued model now, but i can still find a few brand new sets in yahoo.

So for now, i will stick to my SE phone.

Sunday, April 06, 2008 / Comments (0) / by sw

Finally i have finished my ironing. LOL. I took 2 hrs or so to iron, this is really slow compared to my mother.

Some of my clothes are now too small for me, i put on some weight, looks like my gym sessions didn't help much. I have a big appetite, my partner who went gym with me will agreed. We both have lousy control over food. Tailor made clothes are like that, cannot put on weight otherwise it will become too tight.

Hmm...my clock reads >1.50am, i am still awake! The Vitamin B Complex i took does worked.

But I have to wake up early this morning at around 7.30am to revise for my exams AGAIN! This B Complex thing is most probably going to keep me awake for the next 2 hrs or so. So i will only go to sleep at around 4am i guess, and wake up at 7.30am, 早睡早起. Can't think of an English word for that, my english is pte ltd.

Kinda stressed out

Saturday, April 05, 2008 / Comments (0) / by sw

Have been preparing for my exams in May, i saw the past years' exam questions, they ain't easy. I still fall short of the revision hours i have put up at my studies blog, myuol, i guessed 12 hrs of intensive revision is never easy.

My old brain seems to slow down quite alot, but the good news is...i am not suffering from dementia. I will usually take my omega 3 supplements before reading my texts...but this particular brand, OceanHealth, doesn't seems to be effective on me.

Nordic Natural seems to have very good feedbacks, but the supplements ain't cheap, cost around $50+ for a half month supply.

Let me see....my current brand of supplements contain 180mg of EPA and 120mg of DHA, the one from Nordic is higher. I need plenty of DHA now.

It's not easy to study at home with lots of distraction, but err....i managed to pull through, refused to be tempted by National Geographic. I didn't really step out of the house today, except to open my letter box for The Edge. Not too bad, quite a fruitful day but could have been so much better.

No time to cook instant noodles...so i ordered Canadian Pizza! 2 for 1, it's very a good deal. The pizzas were still hot when they arrived.

Hawaiian

With 1 more month to go before the exams, i still have some time on hand, thanks to those folks at YANSA, revision is made easy.
I need to go off for a short while to iron my clothes.

Life without Toastmasters

Saturday, April 05, 2008 / Comments (0) / by sw

I have been getting regular updates from my club, i am also kept in the loop when thereare correspondences. Kinda miss Toastmasters, took up public speaking because i wanted to learn the techniques to interact with the masses.

As written in my previous post, i really have to stop now and will be back only in June.

But i am not taking break yet, i am currently searching for materials which i could use for my next Project. Need to get prepared for a comeback in 2 months time.

I will definitely post the contents of my speech here by then. So for those of you who are interested, bookmark my blog.

I was very disappointed when i read the Newpaper yesterday, Arsenal dropped points again at this stage of the season. Don't know what's wrong with them, perform so badly in important matches.

Got to chase Man U and Chelsea now. :{

I hope the chase is not over.

I550W = lousy phone?

Friday, April 04, 2008 / Comments (0) / by sw

Was deciding when to buy this phone from starhub until i read the reviews at hardwarezone. Alot of complaints about its trackball abd battery life. The phone was launched less than a week ago, but i can see afew sellers at hwz trying to sell off their phones.

I have decided to hold on to it.

The unofficial E71 from Nokia is rumoured to be release in May 08. It seems that Nokia is going to announce this model at CTIA this 1-2 days. (mocked up design)

I think Nokia make better phones than Samsung.

I have never owned a samsung phone before, but my colleague who owns one told me to stay away from it. Now i have read the reviews....hmm.....maybe i should really stay away.

I went to collect my daily contact lens today. Tried my first pair, infact i am writing this with my lens on and with a little discomfort. Visions are wider than normal as compared to my specs. Felt a little irritation.

I am trying to get used to it.

But not too bad, i looked different with my lens. I am going to wear them occasionally, so i am going to be clark ken. Put on my specs to look different.

Really got nothing to do to write this.

I am going off to read my emails now. Just before i signed off, here's an interesting photo i found.

Bad english...because i am lazy

My apology to those who visited my blog for having to endure my bad english. Those of you whom have read some of my posts (better read all of them) will realised that i have made many mistakes in my grammar. That happened not because i couldn't write proper english....the main reason is that...i am too lazy to edit my post before i post them. :P

As to when i will check my writings before i post them, hmm... maybe when i remember to edit them.

I am sorry OK

No time for Toastmasters

Tuesday, April 01, 2008 / Comments (0) / by sw

Received a SMS from Rajan this evening asking me if i want to renew my membership. Sigh....my schedule is a little tight now. I can't continue with toastmasters. I only managed to scrap through my first project, few months ago.

Will go back to toastmasters in June. Hopefully i can still do public speaking after few months of rest. The first one is not too bad, can't wait to start project 2 in June.

In the meantime, i have to concentrate with my exams. Last paper in May, those of you reading this, don't think that i am a very young chap. No i am not! Old man lah. Finished school more than a decade ago. Upgrading now to a degree.

Working full time + part time studies = No time for many things + very tired + old bones breaking + swollen eyes :{

But no choice lah. Didn't want to study when i was younger......

One evening gone

Collected my dress shirts from Daniel this evening. 2 pieces to be exact, as usual, long queue at his shop. He seems to be the busiest tailor, i don't see as many customers in other shops. Anyway, made a pair of dark grey pants today (to be collected on 14/04/2008), i have too many black pants. Will try loud design next time, black blue stripes and checkers designs.....

Signed off to go to bed.

800IS

Sunday, March 30, 2008 / Comments (0) / by sw

Got myself a digicam today, it's an old model from canon, IXUS 800, which is no longer available in store. I was thinking of getting the 80IS or 800IS before the decision to buy 800IS. The cam is only 6mgp which is sufficient for me now, 8 mgp will be an overkill. I buy because DPreview gave a higher rating to the 800 than 80.

Will take some test shots and see the image quality.

Writing to past time before i go off to iron my clothes.

What happened today

  1. Almost screwed up my blog when i tried to upload a new template.
  2. Intensive revision for my exams in May. 6 hours straight! My old bones cannot take it.
  3. Found a seller for 800IS
  4. Watched Shutter yesterday evening. Not a bad moving, the ghost is not scaring but the suspense makes it spooky.
  5. Went Orchard road yesterday to shop, but after 3 hours, i cannot find an item i like. :/ I am a very fussy consumer.

OK. Channel 46 showing taiwanese paranormal variety programme at 11pm.

Smoking tortoise found in China

Saturday, March 29, 2008 / Comments (0) / by sw

News found on yahoo

BEIJING (AFP) - - A tortoise that smokes and appears to be addicted to nicotine has been discovered in China's northeastern province of Jilin, state media reported on Thursday. The animal is the pet of a man, identified by his surname Yun, who is himself a smoker, Xinhua news agency said, quoting a local newspaper.

One day, Yun teased the tortoise by putting a cigarette butt into its mouth, and to his surprise it started to smoke it, according to the news agency.

From then on, he shared his cigarettes with his pet, Xinhua said.
"It seems to have become addicted," Yun was quoted as saying.
"Whenever I smoke in front of it, it will stick its head out of the water and fidget about until I give it the stub."

Yun proved his claim by putting a cigarette in the tortoise's mouth in front the paper's reporter and his neighbours, Xinhua quoted the newspaper as saying.

To everyone's surprise, the tortoise finished it in less than four minutes, the news agency said.
Monkeys have been know to smoke in imitation of human beings, the deputy secretary-general of Jilin's Wildlife Conservation Society told Xinhua.

But he said he had never heard of a tortoise lighting up.

Watched a movie by Kelvin Tong today, Rule #1 and 4 DVDs, now my eyes are a little swollen.

The Chronicles Of Narnia, nice graphics! the CG is very good, didn't regret watching this movie. I like fantasy movies.

Lousy show, supposed to be a horror show but turned out to be horrible. The pace is a disappointing

I watched this movie because of jessica alba, she is so hot and beautiful. The movie has a good twist, i liked the pace of the movie too.

Primeval aka crocodile that appeared very little in the movie. Man fighting man for most of the time. The croc wasn't caught in the end, this was based on a true encounter, the real croc Gustave wasn't caught until today, so i guessed the story writer leaves it that way, and that's why the ending is a little weak.

Nice movie by a local director, better than Jack Neo. This story has a twist although isn't too dramatic. Shawn Yue acts very well, the ghosts are quite scary, scare factor is good. Hopefully, our local boys can come up with good movie like this in the future.

A good day with plenty of shows to watch.
