Part 2

Too tired yesterday to upload some of the pictures i took at pulau ubin. here they are but it's not a complete album..

At the jetty

A long queue for the bumboats

It was a nice sunday, i intended to reach the jetty at 8.30am but i overslept. The weather is not so good that day, it was drizzling when i was there and i was hoping that the dark clouds would disperse.

Look at the weather.

The bumboat i took

The rain got heavier along the journey. Look at the waves.

There!

This is a nice and peaceful place, the people are friendly and the seafood is nice. Things are cheap and plenty of fresh air.

The houses and shops are really the kampong style, reminds me of my kampong days, but i can't recall vivdly how my kampong looks like but this place brought back some good feeling. Many dogs stroll in the streets.

Thinking about my kampong days....
Neighbours are living very close to each other and bond between neighbours is very close. Kids ran in the streets in singlets and slippers...sometimes without slippers. Buy tikum, drink bottled soft drinks, threw stones into the sea, cycle, comb the forest in pickups and lorries.

{Some very kampong type of environment}

Backlane

Very kampong road

Very kampong shophouse
The whole display of goods in the shophouses resemble my old kampong.

Cannot find this type of signboard anymore.

Atap houses!

My first meal of the day. Fried hokkien mee. Tasty!

I couldn't stay there for long because the rain got really big and i got drenched badly. Didn't managed to go Chek Jawa and the chinese temple there. Lots of trekkers and cyclists there despite the rain. Have to made a u-turn to the jetty after a short while, and i didn't get to see the monitor lizards there also. But i will be back soon, maybe to cycle or fish.

Will get my kakis to go with me next time
Goodbye ubin, i will be back soon.

This is the part 1. I alight at Loyang when i am on my way to Changi point Jetty, went to the famous loyang tua peh kong temple. it was my first vist there, my...the temple is magnificient, splendid. It looks very majestic. The temple also housed Ganesha, the elephant god from Hinduism.

side

entrance

Tentage outside the temple. Free beehoon+drink.

Alot of people wrote on this big rat

& this ingot
Far shot of the main hall

back of the temple, 12 astrology animals, with abacus.

Visitors are supposed to roll the abacus here for good luck. There's a Earth God altar and Tiger God's altar outside the temple, but i didn't managed to get the pictures.

There 12 incense pots all over the temple, don't even know where are these until i checked with one uncle.

The temple has a money changing machine, and the offerings are totally self service. Drop $2 into a cash box, then collect the offering items, joss sticks, incense papers, tea leaves, sweets and 2 candles.

Went to the jetty after this..

Wanted to get the E61i from starhub at vivocity today, but stocks are running low. Called 1633 again to check before i board the cab but was told that it runs out of stock. :(

Checked with nokia shop, i was told that this model has phased out! Arggghhh......

Should i wait for the new E71 or buy the E61i from somewhere else? The new E71 (Releseae date not announced yet) is expected to cost at least US$500. Expensive!

Lunch at Sakae Sushi, Marina Sq

Didn't eat much today.

My favourite food, potato.

Actually, i went to MS to get Formula 1's tickets but was told that the walkabout area is not confirmed, it's set to the Padang area tentatively, no further detail is available.
Walkabout ticket cost $168 for a 3 day pass. I will buy when more information is out.

Asia Traders and Investor Convention

Suntec city today

Entrance

The turnout at this event isn't what i have expected. Very small crowd today. I was expecting more people today.

Nevertheless, Nextview did a good job bringing creating lots of content, especially the seminars! Whole day packed with seminars.

I stopped by a booth promoting oil & gas investment by Oilpods, returns as promoted was at net 9% for the first year.

Oilpods'booth.

Wine investment

There are a few booths for wine investment, but this area is rather new to me. I invested mostly in stocks and unit trusts but never before in wine. One of the exhibitors, Universal Assets Group (no pics here), manned by very presentable staff....and a beautiful girl.

The returns on wine investment is about 12-40% on an average for 3 years. I have been considering wine investment since last year but did not acquire more information on this.

Seminar

One of Nextview's booth, they have several booths in the hall.

MPH's booth offering some investment books. Wiley & Son was there too.

Althought, the crowd turnout isn't overwhelming, but the organizer did a good job by bringing varieties into the event.

Price for the ticket is $18 but Free for Investasia's members.

Career show 2008

Spent less than 1 hr there. Most of the exibitors are private schools and from the tourism industry.

Casino management.

Looks nice.

Sands's booth

Model of Sands' resort

It's quite disappointing today, there ain't many exhibitors, most of them from MICE and career agency. Hope they have more varieties next time. Went to ATIC straight after this.
