Human Rights? Should we fight for it at all?

Sunday, April 20, 2008 / Comments (0) / by sw

I received an email from blogcatalog when i checked my email today. It's an invitation to all bloggers to write on human rights issues on 15 May.

Human rights is never my cup of tea, nevertheless, perhaps i could contribute abit here. I won't blog about it on 15 May. Animals have their rights too and were given upon them because they cannot fight for their own rights and maybe that's the reason why authorities wanted to protect them. Humans are too demanding, and that could be the reason why we are derived of our rights. Give him an inch and he wants a yard and maybe that's why human rights campaign hardly change a thing.

We actually have plenty of rights in this democratic society. But we could ask for more to upsize our rights. I would prefer those world class organisations to help poor economies. Fill the stomachs first before anything else.

I wonder how much success had human rights organisations gained over the last decades. I don't agree to cruelty to another human but then, we have to be realistic, how many human rights do we actually want?

Of course, we can't let anyone takes away our rights but are we really that derived? The tragedies in Burma or Myanmar, depending on your political stand or Tibet is a result of dictatorship. Can we have Democracy Rights instead? Democracy Rights and Human Rights, are there any different? I would say YES. Think about it.

Why fight for human rights when dictatorship has yet been removed? I am not saying that dictatorship is the only source of problem, at least that's the more common one.

Nothing else to write about human rights since it cannot be resolved at all. I am not writing bullshit here but think about it. Can you, me or us change the world at will?

The Forbidden Kingdom is a lousy movie

Saturday, April 19, 2008 / Comments (0) / by sw

Started my revision at 9am this morning, after 3+ hours my brain juice is running dry, so i deceived to watch a movie for break. There isn't any good movies for the past few weeks, limiting my choices to Funny Games and Forbidden Kingdom.

My first choice is Forbidden Kingdom between the 2 because of Jackie Chan.

Sigh, everything is in English except for a few scenes. This is somehow a Chinese epic movie, at least with the Monkey King in it. I couldn't believed what i saw, Jackie Chan the drunken master was speaking Chinese to Michael Angarano, and when he couldn't understand Jackie Chan, hmm..JC started to speak in English......OMG. I mean are those people from that era supposed to know enlgish and chinese??? Can switch from CCTV to CNN anytime. This is a made for USA movie for sure but at least put some sense into it.

Monkey King spoke english, best of all the JADE EMPEROR! spoke english. Graphics were good lah but then the story is so weak i won't even rent a DVD. Very disappointed with the movie. It's a pity that Collin Chan the bad guy from Flashpoint aka Tony didn't have much scene in the movie.

Wasted $11 on this movie, but i had a good rest. It's time to go back to my books.

Stresssssss :(

It's sunday but i am at home revising, well i am not complaining here but then i will be in town or having dinner with my friends. But i am grounded now.

I am feeling stress now, so many chapters to cover and yet so little time. Studying part time i never easy i guess. I am only left with 3 weeks to get things ready for my big day. Thay's why i blog less these few days and will be even lesser soon.

Nice weather today, cool and rainy...it's a good time to sleep but i have to resist the temptations...:). OK. I really need to log off now.

Haven't been updating my blog for the past few days because i am busy preparing for my exams. It has been very stressful for me, but it will be over soon in May :}

It caught me by surprise when i logged in today to see a Nuffnang ad. Wooh!, they have finally put an ad on my blog. I thought for a moment that i have a boring blog that they wouldn't be interested in.

My schedule haven't been interesting for the past few days. I cut off all entertainment to study straight after work. I usually reached homeat about 8 and dive into my books at around 9 then call it a day at around 1+ to 2am. My eye bags are getting heavier now, my eyes looked kinda swollen.

I need to sign off for now, so see you. Have a very nice and pleasant weekend.

Something is wrong with me today (my diet gone haywire)

Went to work today as usual without breakfast, but i felt something different....lethargic, fatigue, lost of concentration.

In fact, for all these years, i seldom (almost never) take breakfast before i go to work, and seldom (almost never) take lunch because i will feel sleepy after a meal in the afternoon. So you could say that i take only 1 meal per day that is my dinner for the past few years...maybe 5-6 years already?

5-6 years~~

My doctor was surprised when i told her that (visited her 1 month ago when i caught a serious flu). I think there ain't many people like me who can endure with only 1 meal per day. But i felt different today, felt so weak as if i am going to fall sick. Hmm...i didn't take care of my health too well. I guess i got to have regular meals SOON otherwise my immune system is going to collapse one of these days. Got to take some Vitamin C, super dosage type, 1000mg beside my daily dosage of B Complex and Omega 3, but i heard krill oil is better than pure Omega 3.

Nevertheless, i got to exercise more as well, i have put on alot of weight despite low meal intake coz i ate quite alot over the weekend, it's like...compensating myself for the lack of meals during the weekdays :P

Plus plenty of late nights.....sigh, i looked older than i should.

Preparing for my exams

Just finished a portion of my revision. I am burning mid night oil again, guess i need to go for facial after my exams, but i know myself too well, it's useless. I like to keep myself busy, cannot stay in my house and slack, must do something at all time.
Either reading, surfing, blogging, listening to podcast/zencast, write something, sms someone etc....etc... I just cannot sit still.
Like now. I just took a break from my revision and i am downloading some audiofiles from businessweek. Cannot stay still...
OK. I need to go off for second round of revision now. I may be back if i am still awake later.

I550W? No way! Cannot make it

Sunday, April 06, 2008 / Comments (0) / by sw

This phone has a very sleek design, but seriously, i wonder how could a phone relies on design instead of features and performance. I was thinking of getting this intially, but after a few reviews i have read i have decided to hold on to my decision.

Some of the feedbacks i saw from the users

BTW, for those using the phone, do you find yourself having to charge daily? I am surprised as the 1200mAH batt life seems pretty short! And this even with v moderate usage (10 mins web surfing using GPRS, send & receive 10 SMS, 30 mins GPS, almost no calls made/received). But phone is set to dual mode network daily. Either this phone really uses a lot of juice or my batt is faulty. I did charge it for 9 hours 1st time on phone purchase.

the battery life sucks for such a big batt

ball cursor ...sucks big time call quality ...not as good as the other phones i used previouslyscreen ...cannot see properly under direct sunlight (N82 & my previous 6110 navigator did not have this problem) symbian 60 S/W seems to lack some parts battery life ...cannot make it

Just noticed something: My phone tends to heat up when I surf web thru GPRS. At the same time, batt level falls dramatically within minutes.

I am not going discredit this phone until i get my hands on it. I am lucky to get a feel of the phone at Samsung's roadshow. The trackball is really NOT sensitive, it's disappointing. It's troublesome to navigate within the menu. Iam not sure about the GPS since i didn't try that.

Poor battery is a good enough reason for me to stay away from this phone. There's really no point for me to get a phone when the battery runs flat easily, i don't want to miss an important at anytime of the day.

So. I have no vested interest anymore.

Maybe i should wait for Nokia E71, but there's no news from Nokia yet. OR get the E61i, although it's a discontinued model now, but i can still find a few brand new sets in yahoo.

So for now, i will stick to my SE phone.
